Providence Energy Operators

In 2015 Providence formed Providence Energy Operators, LLC (“PEO”), an exploration and production company primarily focused on direct investments in non-operated working interest assets. PEO’s principal strategy is to target, acquire and develop upstream oil and gas properties across the United States.

With nearly $1B in assets under management, PEO’s proven approach towards the acquisition and development of high-quality reserves has resulted in the assembly of a well-diversified portfolio or assets, built to withstand commodity price volatility and to provide its partners with superior, risk-adjusted returns.

PEO is invested in nearly every onshore basin throughout the U.S. and is actively seeking non-operated working interests and development joint-ventures, with best-in-class operators and in regions that build upon its existing knowledge base and technical expertise.

David Bissmeyer

David Bissmeyer joined Providence in 2014 and serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Providence Energy Operators, LLC.

David has over 35 years of experience, both domestic and international, in the upstream oil and gas industry.  Prior to Providence, David worked at Marathon as a production and reservoir engineer and then joined Atlantic Richfield in a variety of roles from business development and acquisitions to Engineering Manager.  David then went to Netherland Sewell Consulting as a Reservoir Engineer. David then joined Ventex Operating Corp, as Vice President of Engineering and Operations.

David graduated from Louisiana State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering and earned his Masters in Finance from the University of Louisiana. David is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Independent Earth Scientists.

John Callanan

John Callanan joined Providence in 2016 and serves as the Vice President of Geology of Providence Energy Operators, LLC.

John has more than 35 years experience as a geologist working both unconventional and conventional reservoirs in North America.  Prior to Providence, John worked 11 years with Quicksilver Resources located in Fort Worth, in a variety of roles including Vice President of Geology.  John also spent 15 years as an independent exploration/exploitation geologist and another 8 years employed by several private E&P companies based in Texas.

John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Missouri in 1981.  John is also a Licensed Professional Geoscientist in Texas and Louisiana, an AAPG Certified Petroleum Geologist, as well as, being a finalist for the 2014 Texas Top Producers – Best Geoscientist Award.

Mike Wylie

Mike Wylie joined Providence in 2015 and serves as the Director of Acquisitions for Providence Energy Operators, LLC.

Mike has over 39 years experience as an operations and reservoir engineer.  Prior to Providence, Mike worked for Sun Exploration and Production as an operations and reservoir engineer in Abilene, TX and then as Acquisitions Coordinator in Los Angeles.  Mike then joined Oryx Energy as a reservoir engineer in the Exploration Department in Dallas, TX.  Mike then went to Victory Oil and Gas as Vice President of Engineering.  Mike joined Hunt Petroleum Corporation as Reservoir Engineer and Acquisitions Manager and then became Vice President of Operations.  After retiring from Hunt, Mike formed his own company, Alta Energy, Ltd., and has purchased royalty and working interests in several states.

Mike earned his BS in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1981.  Mike is a Registered Professional Engineer in Petroleum Engineering in the State of California.  He has been a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 1981.

Joseph Melcher

Joseph Melcher joined Providence in 2015 and serves as the Senior Engineer for Providence Energy Operators, LLC.

Joseph has 13 years experience in both conventional and unconventional reservoirs.  Prior to Providence, Joseph worked for Halliburton Energy Services as a Senior Technical Advisor with a focus on completion optimization. Although primarily focused on East Texas and Gulf Coast projects, Joseph also worked short term assignments in the Permian Basin, South Texas, Appalachian Basin, Saudi Arabia and Argentina.

Joseph earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Science from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2006. Joseph is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Billy Washington

Billy Washington joined Providence in 2017 and serves as the Vice President of Land for Providence Energy Operators, LLC.

Billy has over 39 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in land and Business Development.  His experience includes working in numerous domestic oil and gas basins, as well as international exposure. Prior to Providence, Billy worked at TXO Production, May Petroleum, BHB Petroleum and Brigham Exploration in land.  He spent over 20 years with Rosewood Resources, in a variety of roles, including oversight of acquisitions and divestitures, and as Vice President of Business Development.

Billy graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1981 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in Petroleum Land Management.

Peter Kemp

Peter Kemp joined Providence in 2012 and serves as the Vice President of Finance for Providence Energy Operators, LLC and sits on its Hedging and Investment Committees.  He is responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, valuation, hedging, and tax functions, as well as providing input in the areas of forecasting and financial planning and analysis.

Previously, Mr. Kemp served as Director of Finance for Synergy Renewables, a waste-to-energy startup focused on developing small-scale generation facilities in the Caribbean and Latin America.  Prior to Synergy, Mr. Kemp worked in the audit and valuation practices at KPMG, LLP.

Mr. Kemp holds a BA in economics from the University of Virginia.
