Sierra
In 2021, Providence formed Sierra Energy Holdings, LLC (“Sierra”), a mineral and royalty acquisition company, in partnership with Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (“Oaktree”).
Sierra primarily focuses its acquisition efforts in the Haynesville Shale and Permian Basin. As of mid-year 2024, Sierra has acquired over 23,000 net royalty acres (“NRA”), of which approximately 18,000 NRA are located in the Haynesville Shale and approximately 4,000 NRA are located in the Permian Basin. Sierra currently owns mineral and royalty interests in approximately 1,925 horizontal wells across all basins.
In June of 2024, Providence and Oaktree formed Sierra Energy Holdings II, LLC (”Sierra II”). Sierra II is capitalized with $500 million and seeks to employ a similar strategy as Sierra I as to acquiring mineral and royalty interests in the Haynesville Shale and Permian Basins.

Phillip Ream
Phillip Ream joined Providence in 2020 to lead Sierra Energy Royalties, LLC (“Sierra”). Phil brings us a wealth of financial, acquisitions and oil and gas engineering and evaluations experience and serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Providence Energy Management, LLC, the service provider of Sierra.
Prior to Providence, Phil served as a Managing Director within the oil and gas group of Simmons Energy, and before that as a Managing Director of the Natural Resources Group of Barclays.
Phil began his investment banking career with The First Boston Corporation, with additional experience with Wasserstein Perella, Salomon Brothers, SG Barr Devlin and Bear Stearns. Early in his career Phil worked as a petroleum engineer with Texas Oil and Gas Corp. and as Assistant to the President of Snyder Oil Corporation. He graduated with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Petroleum Engineering and later received his MBA from The Wharton School.

Collin May
Collin May joined Providence in 2014, and serves as the Vice President of Land.
Collin has over 13 years of industry experience, working for Providence the last 6 of those years. During his time at Providence, Collin has served in a variety of land and business development roles. Collin is primarily responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and overseeing the company’s mineral acquisitions and brings a wealth of experience to all aspects of the oil and gas and minerals business, including in land management, title, acquisitions and divestitures, joint-venture agreements and joint operating agreements.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Collin began his career with RK Pinson & Associates, with additional experience at Black Lab Energy and Blue Baron Energy.
